Appointed Research Fellow on Chinese military and security issues at the Heritage Foundation. Promoted August 2013 to Senior Research Fellow.
Previously, eight years at CNA/ the Center for Naval Analysis. Directed projects examining aspects of Chinese military and security policy, including Chinese space capabilities, military doctrine, military leadership analysis, and mobilization planning.
Studies were conducted using variety of original language sources, based on fluency in spoken and written Chinese.
Prior experience includes five and a half years at SAIC, and two years with the US Congress Office of Technology Assessment, authoring studies in a variety of military/security related areas, focused on Asian and Chinese developments.
