Robert L. Strayer served as the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cyber and International Communications and Information Policy at the Department of State from 2017 to 2020, rather than as an Assistant Secretary. In this role, he led international negotiations on cybersecurity, 5G network security, and internet governance.
